The ship

the HANNOVER Spirit of Niedersachsen

For the WAY TO BRISTOL project, a classic open wooden ship fits best. In Wischhafen, Lower Saxony, we found an 8.50-metre-long oak and mahogany naval cutter from 1972, refurbished by the Hatecke shipyard. This type of ship was originally used as a training ship by the navy. The ship was christened HANNOVER Spirit of Niedersachsen. We say: It is an honest boat that suits us.

The HANNOVER Spirit of Niedersachsen can be moved by oar or as a two-master sailing boat. It will be commanded on this voyage by a captain acting on a voluntary basis.
